HG Cleaning Products: What to Use, How to Use It and Where to Buy Near You

HG is a specialist cleaning range, and the idea is simple: one product for one job. Instead of a single all-purpose spray that does everything averagely, you pick the cleaner made for limescale, or grout, or stove glass, or leather, and it does that job properly.

This guide goes through the HG range by room and by problem, so you can work out what to use, where to use it and what to avoid. We stock 50 HG products. Most of our Home Hardware stores across Scotland and the North East of England have them on the shelf, and you can order online for Click & Collect from your local store. Scroll to where to buy HG near you to find your nearest store.

Last updated 9 October 2026. Safety directions for the mould spray, limescale foam spray, hair unblocker and odour eliminator were checked against HG’s UK website. Always follow the label on your own bottle, as formulas and directions can change.

Bathroom: HG Limescale Remover, Mould Spray and Bathroom Cleaners

How to Remove Limescale From Taps, Baths and Shower Screens

Limescale is the chalky white or cloudy film that builds up wherever hard water dries: round taps, on shower screens, inside the toilet bowl and across the base of the bath. It builds slowly, and it’s far easier to remove while it’s thin.

The HG range has two options. HG Limescale Remover Concentrate is the professional-strength choice. It’s designed for limescale and calcium deposits on taps, baths, toilets and shower walls, for descaling blocked showerheads, and it also removes rust, dirt and yellow stains. HG say it’s safe on chrome, stainless steel, ceramic, glazed and unglazed tiles, glass and plastic. HG Limescale Remover Foam Spray is the quicker option for regular upkeep: spray it on limescale, leave it for a maximum of 5 minutes, then rinse or wipe with a damp cloth. Don’t let it dry out on the surface. The foam clings to vertical surfaces like tiles and shower screens.

Check the surface first. Limescale removers are acidic, and acid can mark marble and other natural stone. HG say not to use their limescale remover foam spray on marble, other calcareous natural stone or surfaces that aren’t acid-resistant, and to take care with coloured sanitaryware. Use a cleaner made for stone instead (see the natural stone section below), and test somewhere out of sight if you’re unsure.

Everyday Bathroom Cleaner for Soap Scum and Body Fat

For day-to-day cleaning, HG Bathroom Cleaner All Surfaces (also sold as a shower and washbasin spray) removes light limescale, body fat and soap deposits from washbasins, plastic shower cubicles and tiled walls. It’s safe on marble, travertine, granite and enamel. Spray, leave it a few seconds and rinse off.

To bring dull sanitaryware back to life, use HG Bathroom Cleaner Shine Restorer, sold as bath shine. A few drops on a sponge are enough. It has no abrasives or aggressive ingredients, so it’s safe on glaze, chrome, enamel, plastic and painted surfaces, and it removes bath oil, soap residue and limescale without leaving streaks.

How to Get Rid of Mould in the Bathroom

Black spots on grout, sealant and tiles are mould. They come back when a bathroom stays damp, which is common in Scottish homes through autumn and winter. HG Mould Spray removes mould and mildew from tiles, grout and shower areas and helps prevent regrowth.

HG’s directions are simple: spray from 3 to 5cm away, leave it for 30 minutes, then clean off with water and a sponge. HG say it works on tile grout, silicone joints, plaster and tiled walls, and also on outdoor areas such as garden ornaments and plant boxes. It is not suitable for wood, ceilings or the rubber seals on a fridge.

Test first, wear gloves. HG warn that the mould spray has a bleaching effect, so try it on a hidden spot before you treat a whole wall. Wear rubber or plastic gloves, ventilate the room well and always read the label.

Spraying is only half the job. If mould keeps returning, the room needs better ventilation. Run the extractor fan during and after showers, wipe down the shower screen and open a window when you can. Our autumn DIY checklist covers checking vents and extractor fans.

Tiles, Grout and Natural Stone: HG Cleaners for Every Floor and Wall

How to Clean Grout Properly

Grout is porous, so it soaks up dirt, grease and soap. HG Grout Cleaner Concentrate deep cleans and degreases grout joints. Dilute it with lukewarm water, apply with a scrubbing brush, leave it for a few minutes, scrub well and rinse with water. One litre covers around 10 to 15 square metres. There’s also a ready-to-go HG Grout Cleaner 0.5L.

Grout colour tells you what you’re dealing with. HG’s advice is that any yellow or brown dirt left after cleaning is limescale, which the limescale remover will shift. Black deposits are mould, so use the mould spray.

Best Cleaner for Tiled Floors

For regular mopping, HG Tile Cleaner Shine Restorer is a concentrated mopping cleaner for porous and non-porous floor tiles, flagstones and non-calciferous natural stone. It also enhances the colour of the tiles.

If the floor has an old layer of wax or polish that has gone yellow or patchy, HG Tile Cleaner Extra Strong is the heavy-duty option. It’s a professional cleaner for stubborn staining and old wax, polish and protective films on floor tiles, flagstones and all types of natural stone. After a deep clean, you can protect the tiles with HG Tile Protector, a liquid polymer that dries to a thin, slightly glossy film. It protects against stains, dirt, scratches and wear, and has an anti-slip effect.

Cleaning Marble, Granite and Natural Stone

Natural stone needs specific care. For floors, HG Natural Stone Cleaner Shine Restorer is a mopping cleaner for marble and other calciferous natural stone floors, and it can be used on untreated stone. For kitchen worktops, HG Natural Stone Worktop Cleaner is made for daily cleaning of granite, marble and hard stone worktops. It removes grease and grime without leaving stripes. It’s the one to reach for instead of a general kitchen spray on a stone worktop.

Rust marks on tiles and paving are a different problem. HG Stain Away No.7 is designed to remove rust stains from textiles, and rust spots from tiles, paving stones, concrete and non-calciferous natural stone.

Kitchen: HG Hob, Oven, Grease and Appliance Cleaners

How to Clean a Greasy Hob and Cooker Hood

Cooking grease settles on everything within a metre of the hob. HG Grease Away dissolves animal and vegetable fats and food oils, and works on the hob, tiles, cooker hood and other kitchen surfaces including stainless steel, galvanised steel, enamel and aluminium. HG Hob Cleaner 0.5L is a similar degreaser for the hob and the surfaces around it.

If you have a ceramic hob, use HG Hob Cleaner Extra Strong. It’s specially designed to remove stubborn dirt and cooking rings from ceramic hobs, and it leaves a protective gloss. Rub it on with a cloth, wipe off with a damp cloth, then polish with a dry one until it shines.

Best Way to Clean an Oven, Grill or Barbecue

HG Oven, Grill and Barbecue Cleaner tackles baked-on grease on ovens, grills and barbecues, and can also be used on baking trays and stainless steel hobs. Spray the surface, leave it for 3 to 5 minutes and wipe off with a wet sponge. For stubborn marks, repeat. Put on gloves and ventilate the kitchen first.

Microwave, Air Fryer and Stainless Steel

  • Microwave: HG Microwave Cleaner removes grease and caked-on food from combination microwaves. Spray, leave to soak for a few seconds, wipe off with kitchen paper, then wipe with a clean, damp cloth.
  • Air fryer: HG Air Fryer Cleaner is made for the greasy baked-on residue that collects in an air fryer basket. A brush is included and one bottle is enough for about five cleans.
  • Stainless steel: HG Steel Polish cleans, shines and protects stainless steel draining boards, pans and kitchenware, and also suits chrome taps and kettles. A few drops on a damp cloth, rubbed in firmly, then wiped with a damp cloth.

How to Descale a Kettle, Coffee Machine and Washing Machine

Scale inside appliances makes heating elements work harder, wastes energy and can spoil the taste of your coffee. The HG range has a descaler for each:

Always check your appliance manual for descaling guidance. Some machines specify particular products, and a few warranties are fussy about it.

In the freezer, HG Freezer De-Icer helps remove ice build-up quickly without scraping, which keeps the freezer running efficiently.

Drains and Blockages: HG Drain Unblockers Explained

Which HG Drain Unblocker Is Right for My Blockage?

Different drains block for different reasons, which is why HG has several unblockers. The right one depends on where the blockage is:

Blockage Use How it works
Kitchen sink: grease and food HG Kitchen Drain and Plug Unblocker Uses natural micro-organisms that eat their way through the blockage, and helps prevent new ones forming
Bathroom sink, shower or bath: hair HG Drain and Plug Hair Unblocker Two-component formula that breaks down hair, soap and skin grease without damaging pipes
Handbasin or shower trap HG Drain and Plug Unblocker Ready-to-use liquid that doesn’t affect plastic pipes
Not sure, or a stubborn one HG Duo Unblocker Two ready-to-use bottles for kitchen drains (grease and food) or bathroom drains (hair, soap and skin grease)

Best Plughole and Bathroom Sink Unblocker for Hair

Hair is the usual culprit behind a slow plughole, shower tray or bathroom sink. HG Drain and Plug Hair Unblocker is a two-bottle, ready-to-use unblocker for exactly that. HG’s directions are to remove any standing water first, pour in the whole of bottle 1, then carefully pour in the whole of bottle 2, leave it to work for at least an hour, then rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. HG say it is not suitable for aluminium or zinc drain pipes, septic tanks, or blockages caused by building debris, cement or metal objects, and it should never be combined with other products.

With all drain unblockers, read the label before you start, wear gloves and eye protection, and never mix one product with another. HG’s advice for the kitchen unblocker is to let a small amount of hot water run through the blockage first where possible. Liquid unblockers are ready to use, so there’s no diluting and less chance of splashes.

A lot of blockages are easier to prevent than to clear. Use a plug strainer in the bath and shower, and wipe greasy pans with kitchen roll before washing up.

Floors: HG Laminate, Vinyl, Parquet and Tile Cleaners

Floors are where HG’s specialist approach really pays off. Using the wrong cleaner on laminate or parquet can leave a dull film or damage the finish, so it matters that each floor type has its own product.

Best Cleaner for Laminate Flooring

HG Laminate Cleaner Shine Restorer cleans with a fresh scent and adds shine. It’s also suitable for click laminate and other non-glued floorings. It leaves a protective layer on the surface that helps resist scratching and wear, and prevents laminate becoming dull. For heavily soiled floors, HG Laminate Cleaner Extra Strong removes stubborn dirt, grease and protective films. To protect a laminate floor, HG Laminate Protector forms a thin glossy film that protects against wear and scratches, masks existing worn patches and adds an anti-slip effect. One litre covers approximately 60 square metres per layer.

Don’t over-wet laminate. Use a well wrung-out mop or cloth and leave the floor to dry on its own, as HG advise, rather than mopping it dry. Standing water gets into joints and damages the boards.

Cleaning Parquet and Wooden Floors

For varnished parquet floors there are two products. HG Parquet Cleaner is a mopping cleaner for regular, streak-free cleaning: dissolve 100ml (a cup) in half a bucket (5 litres) of lukewarm water. HG Parquet Cleaner Shine Restorer adds shine: dissolve 50ml (half a cup) in half a bucket, and one litre is enough for about 20 washes. With both, clean with a wrung-out mop and leave the floor to dry.

Vinyl and Linoleum Floors

HG Vinyl Cleaner Shine Restorer is a concentrated mopping cleaner for artificial floors such as vinyl and linoleum, and is suitable for rubber, cork tiles, tiles and natural stone. One litre is enough for around 20 washes, and it leaves a protective shine.

Windows, Glass, uPVC and Stove Glass: HG Cleaners for a Streak-Free Finish

How to Clean Windows Without Streaks

HG Window Cleaner Concentrate is a super-concentrated cleaner that doesn’t contain ammonia or methylated spirits. It’s pH neutral, so it won’t harm paint, varnish or plastics, and HG say a 500ml bottle is enough for at least 35 window washes. Add 15ml (2 to 3 teaspoons) to half a bucket of lukewarm water, wash the glass in circular movements and dry with a squeegee in overlapping strips, wiping the squeegee between strips.

For a quick job on mirrors, shower screens, patio doors or conservatory glass, HG Glass and Mirror Cleaner is a ready-to-use spray that cuts through greasy fingerprints and everyday dirt.

Cleaning uPVC Windows and Doors

White uPVC frames pick up black marks, bird droppings and general weathering. HG UPVC Cleaner is made for uPVC doors, windows and frames and removes dirt, grease and stubborn stains without damaging the surface.

How to Clean a Wood Burner or Stove Glass

If you have a wood burner or multi-fuel stove, you’ll know how quickly the glass blackens. HG Stove Glass Cleaner is a foam made to dissolve soot, tar and grease on stove glass. The foam clings to the glass so the cleaner has time to work. Only clean the glass when the stove is completely cold. For everything else you need to get your stove ready for winter, see our guide to getting your open fire or stove ready for winter.

Carpets, Sofas, Leather and Stains: HG Stain Removers and Upholstery Cleaners

How to Remove Stubborn Stains From Carpets and Sofas

HG Stain Remover Extra Strong is a spray made with active oxygen. It’s designed for the stains that scare people: red wine, coffee, chocolate, sauces, lipstick, shoe polish, fruit juice and grease, on carpets, furniture and car upholstery. It suits virtually all types of fabric. Spray the whole stained area, leave it to work for a few minutes and wipe off the released dirt with a clean, absorbent cloth. As with any stain remover, test an unseen patch first.

For a deep clean of the whole carpet, HG Carpet Cleaner is a carpet and upholstery cleaner that also leaves a dirt-repellent layer. It’s applied using a carpet cleaning machine, and one litre treats about 30 square metres. Treat stains beforehand with a spot stain spray.

How to Clean a Leather Sofa

Leather needs gentle care. HG Deep Cleaner for Leather is a mild, water-based cleaner for full-aniline and scumbled leather. Put a little on a soft cloth, work it over the leather in circles without pressing, leave it for 10 to 30 seconds, then wipe off the lifted dirt. Let the leather dry for 30 minutes. For best protection, follow up with HG 4-in-1 Leather Cleaner, which cleans, nurtures, softens and protects leather on furniture, suitcases and bags.

If you’re not sure what type of leather you have, test a hidden spot first and check the manufacturer’s care label.

Getting Rid of Pet Smells and Odours

Air fresheners cover smells. HG Odour Eliminator for All Surfaces is different. It uses natural enzymes and microbes to remove the source of the smell, so the odour doesn’t come back. It’s designed for smells from urine, faeces, vomit, pets, nicotine and food. Remove any excess soiling first, spray directly onto the source of the smell and let the surface dry completely. HG say the odour fades within 30 minutes to a few hours. It’s for absorbent surfaces such as pet beds, sofas, car seats, rugs and carpets, and not for hard, non-absorbent surfaces. It isn’t a room air freshener either, and colour-sensitive fabrics should be tested first. If you’ve got a puppy, a litter tray or a child with a sick bug, it’s worth keeping in the cupboard.

Wood Furniture, Silver and Jewellery: HG Care Products

Removing White Rings and Water Marks From Wood Furniture

White rings left by hot mugs and wet glasses, and the marks left by alcohol, can often be reversed with HG’s furniture restorers. Use HG Furniture Restorer Light Wood on pale woods such as pine, and HG Furniture Restorer Dark Wood on stained, varnished, oiled or waxed furniture. Both also help camouflage scratches. Apply liberally in straight lines with a clean, non-fluffy cloth, leave to work for 6 to 10 hours, repeat if the product has fully absorbed, and then wipe off any surplus. It takes patience but the results are worth it.

Cleaning Silver and Jewellery at Home

HG Silver Polish Cloth is an impregnated cloth that shines silver and silver-plated items, even slightly tarnished ones. Because of its size, you don’t touch the silver with bare fingers, which reduces re-tarnishing from fingerprints. For rings, chains and earrings, HG Jewellery Cleaning Bath removes the skin grease that makes jewellery look dull.

Before Christmas, when the good glasses, cutlery and candlesticks come out, is the natural time to use both. See also our guide to making your home cosy for winter.

Outdoors: HG Patio Cleaner and Rust Remover

How to Clean a Patio or Paving

HG Patio and Tile Cleaner is a highly concentrated cleaner for dirty and stained concrete, paving slabs and gravel. Wet the patio first, paying attention to the grout, then mix the contents of the bottle with 4 litres of water in a container. Apply it with a scrubbing brush, give it a few minutes to work, scrub a bit more and rinse thoroughly with water before it dries. For green moss and algae, see our guide on the best way to remove moss and algae from patios and driveways.

How to Remove Rust From Tools, Railings and Garden Furniture

HG Rust Remover removes rust without sanding, so it’s good for delicate or awkward items. You can soak small items in a diluted solution (500ml in 2.5 litres of water) or apply it directly with a brush on larger objects like fences. It’s useful on garden tools, bolts, nuts and railings.

How to Get the Best Results From HG Cleaning Products

Read the Label Every Time

HG products are specialist cleaners, and each one has its own instructions for dilution, contact time and safe surfaces. Read the bottle before you start, not after.

Test a Small Hidden Area First

Whether it’s leather, natural stone, a painted surface or a stained carpet, test somewhere out of sight and leave it to dry before treating the whole surface.

Never Mix Cleaning Products

Never mix one cleaning product with another. Use one product at a time, rinse the surface thoroughly between products, and ventilate the room.

Wear Gloves and Ventilate

Wear gloves for acidic and alkaline products such as limescale removers, oven cleaners and drain unblockers, and open a window. Keep all cleaning products out of reach of children and pets.

Use the Right Product for the Job

This is the main idea behind HG. A limescale remover isn’t a mould remover, a laminate cleaner isn’t a parquet cleaner, and a glass cleaner won’t clean a stove window properly. Using the product made for the job is quicker, uses less effort and is kinder to your surfaces.

Common Cleaning Mistakes to Avoid

  • Using too much product. Concentrates such as the grout cleaner, window cleaner and floor cleaners are designed to be diluted. More isn’t better and often leaves a residue.
  • Soaking laminate and parquet. Use a well wrung-out mop and let the floor dry on its own.
  • Using acid on marble. Limescale removers can etch natural stone. Use the stone cleaners instead.
  • Cleaning a hot stove or oven. Let it cool completely first.
  • Skipping the rinse. Rinse after limescale removers and grout cleaners so no residue is left.
  • Treating mould without fixing the damp. Spray it, then improve ventilation, or it’ll be back within weeks.

Our Recommendation: A Starter HG Kit for Most Homes

You don’t need all 50 products. For most homes, these cover the jobs that come up most often:

Add a stove glass cleaner if you have a wood burner, and a leather cleaner if you have a leather sofa.

Where to Buy HG Cleaning Products Near You

Home Hardware has independent stores across Ayrshire, Glasgow, Argyll, Dumfries and Galloway, the Lothians, the Borders, the Highlands and the North East of England. Stock figures below come live from our store stock feed and update through the day, so they’re a good guide, but call your store before travelling for a specific product, or use the store locator to find your nearest store. Popular HG Products People Look for Near Them

Each store below shows how many of the 50 HG products it has in stock right now, with its phone number so you can check the shelf before you travel.

HG Cleaning Products in Ayrshire & Arran

Salt spray from the Firth of Clyde leaves a film on windows and uPVC frames all along the coast from Largs to Girvan, and on Arran. The window cleaner and uPVC cleaner earn their keep here.

HG Cleaning Products in Glasgow & Renfrewshire

Older tenements and stone-built houses are prone to condensation and mould in the colder months, so the mould spray, grout cleaner and limescale remover are popular choices in Glasgow and Renfrewshire.

HG Cleaning Products in Argyll, Bute & the Clyde Coast

A damp, mild climate on the Cowal peninsula, Bute and the Clyde coast means bathrooms and windows need regular attention. The mould spray and window cleaner are the usual starting points.

HG Cleaning Products in Dumfries & Galloway

Wood burners are common in Galloway homes, so the stove glass cleaner and oven and barbecue cleaner are well worth having on the shelf, and the patio cleaner helps once the garden season starts.

HG Cleaning Products in Edinburgh & the Lothians

From Edinburgh to the East Lothian coast, the same mix of jobs comes up: tiled bathrooms, laminate and parquet floors, and leather sofas that need a proper clean.

HG Cleaning Products in Scottish Borders

Border homes with wood burners, stone floors and older furniture are well served by the stove glass cleaner, natural stone cleaners and the furniture restorers.

HG Cleaning Products in Moray & the Highlands

Long Highland winters mean the stove is on for months. Keep the stove glass cleaner, hob cleaner and the freezer de-icer to hand for the cold season.

HG Cleaning Products in Forth Valley & Lanarkshire

Busy family homes across the Forth Valley and Clydesdale tend to need the everyday heavy hitters: oven cleaner, carpet and stain removers, and drain unblockers.

HG Cleaning Products in Northumberland & Tyneside

From the coast at Whitley Bay to Alnwick, salt air, wet weather and muddy paws all take their toll, so floor cleaners, stain removers and window cleaners are in regular demand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy HG cleaning products near me?

Home Hardware stores across Scotland and the North East of England stock HG cleaning products, and many have almost the full range of 50 products on the shelf, including Saltcoats, Largs, Troon, Prestwick, Girvan, Dunoon, Helensburgh, Bridge of Weir, Stranraer, Newton Stewart, Hawick and Forres. You can also order online and collect from your local store.

What is HG limescale remover used for?

HG Limescale Remover Concentrate removes limescale and calcium deposits from taps, baths, toilets and shower walls, and can descale blocked showerheads. It also removes rust, dirt, yellow stains and verdigris. It is safe on chrome, stainless steel, ceramic, glass and plastic. HG’s limescale remover foam spray should not be used on marble or other calcareous natural stone, so check the label before using any acidic limescale remover on stone.

What is the best way to clean grout?

Dilute HG Grout Cleaner Concentrate with lukewarm water, scrub it into the grout with a brush, leave it for a few minutes, scrub again and rinse with water. If yellow or brown marks remain after cleaning, that is limescale and a limescale remover will shift it. Black marks are mould, so use a mould spray.

How do I get rid of black mould in the bathroom?

Spray HG Mould Spray on the affected tiles, grout or shower area, following the instructions on the bottle. Then improve ventilation by using the extractor fan, wiping down shower screens and opening a window, otherwise the mould is likely to return.

How do I clean a wood burner glass door?

Make sure the stove is completely cold, then apply HG Stove Glass Cleaner, a foam made to dissolve soot, tar and grease. The foam clings to the glass while it works. Wipe it clean and polish the glass with a dry cloth.

What is the best cleaner for laminate flooring?

HG Laminate Cleaner Shine Restorer cleans laminate and adds a protective shine, and HG Laminate Cleaner Extra Strong removes stubborn dirt, grease and old protective films. Use a well wrung-out mop and let the floor dry on its own, as too much water can damage laminate.

Can I use HG products on marble and natural stone?

Use the products made for stone: HG Natural Stone Cleaner Shine Restorer for floors and HG Natural Stone Worktop Cleaner for worktops. HG say their limescale remover foam spray must not be used on marble or other calcareous natural stone, so avoid acidic limescale removers on it unless the label says it is safe, and test a hidden area first.

What is the best way to unblock a sink or drain?

It depends on the blockage. For a kitchen sink blocked by grease and food, use HG Kitchen Drain and Plug Unblocker. For hair in a bath, shower or basin, use HG Drain and Plug Hair Unblocker. HG Duo Unblocker covers both kitchen and bathroom drains. Always read the label, wear gloves and never mix drain unblockers with other products.

How do I clean a leather sofa?

Use a mild, water-based cleaner such as HG Deep Cleaner for Leather on a soft cloth, working in gentle circles without pressure. Leave it 10 to 30 seconds, wipe off the lifted dirt and allow the leather to dry for 30 minutes. Follow with HG 4-in-1 Leather Cleaner to nourish and protect it. Test a hidden area first.

How do I remove red wine and coffee stains from a carpet?

Spray HG Stain Remover Extra Strong over the stain, leave it to work for a few minutes and wipe off the released dirt with a clean, absorbent cloth. It is designed for red wine, coffee, chocolate, sauces and many other stains on carpets, furniture and car upholstery. Test an unseen patch first.

How do I get rid of pet smells?

HG Odour Eliminator for All Surfaces uses natural enzymes and microbes to remove the source of odours caused by pets, urine, vomit, nicotine and food, rather than masking them. It is suitable for virtually all absorbent surfaces.

What is the best plughole unblocker for hair?

HG Drain and Plug Hair Unblocker is made for hair, soap and skin grease in bathroom drains. Remove standing water, pour in bottle 1 and then bottle 2, leave it for at least an hour and rinse with plenty of water. HG say it is not suitable for aluminium or zinc pipes or septic tanks, and it should never be mixed with other products.

Is HG mould spray safe to use?

Use it as directed: spray from 3 to 5cm, leave for 30 minutes and clean off with water and a sponge. HG say it has a bleaching effect, so test a hidden area first, wear rubber or plastic gloves and ventilate well. It is not for wood, ceilings or fridge rubber seals. Always read the label.

Where can I buy HG window cleaner near me?

HG Window Cleaner Concentrate is stocked in Home Hardware stores across Scotland and the North East of England, including Saltcoats, Largs, Troon, Prestwick, Girvan, Dunoon, Helensburgh, Stranraer, Newton Stewart, Hawick and Forres. Our guide lists every store with its phone number and live HG stock, and you can also order online for Click & Collect.

How often should I descale my kettle and coffee machine?

It depends on how hard your water is and how often you use the appliance, so follow the manufacturer’s guidance in your manual. HG descalers are made for coffee machines, kettles and washing machines, and regular descaling helps appliances work efficiently and last longer.
