PayPal Pay in 3
PayPal Pay in 3 may allow you to spread the cost of eligible purchases into three interest-free payments.
PayPal Pay in 3 is provided by PayPal and is subject to PayPal’s own eligibility checks, approval and terms. Home Hardware Direct cannot approve, decline, amend or manage PayPal Pay in 3 applications.
How it works
At checkout, select PayPal as your payment method.
If PayPal Pay in 3 is available for your order, PayPal may show it as a payment option during the PayPal checkout process.
If approved by PayPal, your purchase will be split into three payments:
- The first payment is taken at the time of purchase
- The second payment is taken automatically around one month later
- The third payment is taken automatically around one month after that
Your PayPal account will show your Pay in 3 plan, payment schedule and remaining balance.
Eligibility
PayPal Pay in 3 is subject to status, approval and PayPal’s own checks.
It is usually available to UK residents aged 18 or over and may only be offered on eligible purchases, eligible products and eligible PayPal accounts.
Not all customers, orders or products will be eligible for PayPal Pay in 3. If PayPal Pay in 3 is not shown during checkout, you will need to choose another payment method.
Credit checks and approval
When you apply for PayPal Pay in 3, PayPal may carry out a soft credit check.
A soft credit check should not affect your credit score and is not visible to other lenders in the same way as a hard credit search.
PayPal’s decision is made by PayPal. Home Hardware Direct cannot see the full reason for a declined application and cannot change PayPal’s decision.
Important credit information
PayPal Pay in 3 is an unregulated credit agreement. This means you may have fewer protections than you would have under a regulated credit agreement.
Please consider whether the purchase is affordable and how you will make the repayments before choosing PayPal Pay in 3.
Missing repayments may affect your ability to use PayPal Pay in 3 in future and could make other borrowing more difficult or more expensive.
Is PayPal Pay in 3 interest-free?
Yes. PayPal Pay in 3 is interest-free.
PayPal does not charge sign-up fees, application fees or late fees for Pay in 3.
However, if a repayment is returned because of insufficient funds or another issue, your bank or financial institution may charge you a fee.
PayPal Pay in 3 purchase limits
PayPal Pay in 3 is only available on eligible basket values and eligible purchases.
The exact availability and any purchase limits are controlled by PayPal and may vary. If PayPal Pay in 3 is available for your order, it will be shown during the PayPal checkout process.
I was declined for PayPal Pay in 3
Eligibility is determined by PayPal, not Home Hardware Direct.
If your PayPal Pay in 3 application is declined, you can still complete your purchase using another available payment method, such as card payment or standard PayPal checkout.

Refunds when using PayPal Pay in 3
If your order is cancelled or refunded, we will process any approved refund back through PayPal.
PayPal will then apply the refund to your Pay in 3 plan. This may reduce your remaining payments, pay off the balance, or result in a credit back to your PayPal balance, depending on how much has already been paid and how much remains outstanding.
You should continue to make any scheduled PayPal Pay in 3 repayments unless PayPal confirms otherwise.
Managing your PayPal Pay in 3 plan
You can manage your PayPal Pay in 3 plan through your PayPal account or the PayPal app.
Home Hardware Direct cannot change your repayment dates, pause payments, update your repayment method or manage your PayPal Pay in 3 plan.
