Need a tough satin varnish for outdoor wood? Ronseal Yacht Varnish in clear satin comes in a 250ml tin and is made for smooth exterior wood, including doors and windows. Ronseal say it protects outdoor wood all year long, highlights the natural colour of the wood, and is extremely tough, resisting cracking, peeling and blistering. Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
Ronseal describe it as waterproof and sun protective, and say it won’t grey in the sunshine. It is a solvent-based, high VOC varnish applied by brush, with coverage of up to 16m² per litre and three coats recommended. To prepare, sand back old finishes with 120 grit sandpaper and wipe away dust with white spirit. Stir well, test on a small area first, and lightly sand before the final coat. It is not recommended for decking. Clean brushes and tools with white spirit or brush cleaner, and once dry the door can be cleaned normally. A great value, hard working varnish for outdoor joinery.
